 Tomb

                                                                                                                  In the grave He lay

To give us a new day

Just for you and me

To set us all free.

For us there was no hope

For in sin we could not cope

With all the horror of sin

Clean our heart dear Jesus,

come in.

Because He was in the grave

We, He could save

If we would only say

Take control of my way.

We are so weak

And need to be meek

His strength we seek

To get through the week

Jesus we need Thee.

Beloved

My Beloved Jesus, God’s Only Begotten Son

“God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

This is the promise of God given to every person that ever lived on the planet earth.  As a child I grew up with this verse very prominent in my mind as many others have.  I wanted to be good but there were so many distractions in the world.  Also the people in the church seemed to be doing like the people that did not claim to be Christian.  So unless a person was studying the Word everyday how do you know what was right and what was wrong.  Very few people are learning every day how to be good and obey every Word of God.  So, now this promise is for those who obey and are the ones that overcome all sin. As I got older the desire to know what was required of me by God became more urgent.  The signs of the time for Jesus to return are all around.  I want so much for Jesus to come now.

Even though we are saved by the grace of God with the shed blood of Jesus, this does not mean we live a life breaking the law.  Jesus, while on earth followed the law that He Himself gave to the whole world on Mt. Sinai.

The theme we are talking about is the word begotten. Over the years the word begotten would make me think of someone being born.  In John 3:16 I normally think of the wonderful baby in the manger at Christmas time. Of course Jesus was not born on December 25.  I am also reminded of the begat list of people in Matthew.

In taking our nature, the Saviour has bound Himself to humanity by a tie that is never to be broken. Through the eternal ages He is linked with us. “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son.” He gave Him not only to bear our sins, and to die as our sacrifice; He gave Him to the fallen race. To assure us of His immutable counsel of peace, God gave His only-begotten Son to become one of the human family, forever to retain His human nature. This is the pledge that God will fulfill His Word. “Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder.” Isaiah. 9:6. God has adopted human nature in the person of His Son, and has carried the same into the highest heaven. . . . Heaven is enshrined in humanity, and humanity is enfolded in the bosom of Infinite Love.
The Faith I live by    page 45

Notice in the text it reminds us of Jesus being born as a human and being our substitute as a sacrifice.  This is a love we will never fully understand. There is more to this word begotten.

In being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again,

I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the first begotten into the world, he said, And let all the angels of God worship him.    Heb. 1:4-6

Jesus is God and is not a created being but the angels are created beings.  Jesus is begotten in His humanity to live a life for an example to us and show us His life without sin.  Then was he to die and be the first begotten of the dead and show us that we can also rise from the dead to a new eternal life.

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.   Revelation 1:5

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.   1 Peter 1:3

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.  1 Corinthians 15:20

That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should show light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.   Acts 26:23

Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him.  Romans 6:8

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  1 Thess 4:16

Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Col 1:15

Christ was the Father’s “appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds.” He was “the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person.” And He upheld “all things by the word of His power.” He possessed divine excellency and greatness. It pleased the Father that in Him all fullness should dwell. And Christ “thought it not robbery to be equal with God.” Yet Jesus exchanged a throne of light and glory which He

had with His Father, counting it not a thing to be desired to be equal with God while man was lost in sin and misery. He came from heaven to earth, clothed His divinity with humanity, and bore the curse as surety for the fallen race. He was not compelled to do this; but He chose to bear the results of man’s transgression, that man might escape eternal death.

Signs of the Times December 22, 1914

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Col 1:16

And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.  Col  1:17

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.  Col 1:18

Jesus came to give us a life to live on this earth and made provision by His sacrifice to bring us from the dead in the resurrection.  What a wonderful God to give us this opportunity to live with him forever.  Praise be to God!!
